Typography for Futura Specimen Book focusing on Wes Anderson films.
Paul Renner’s classic Futura typeface enjoys popularity and usage all around the world. However, none is more iconic in its usage than indie-film director Wes Anderson. Anderson’s movies almost always utilize Futura not only in the movie’s title cards and credits, but also in the props and environments his actors work in. This specimen book looks back onto the history of Futura and provides analysis of the font, as well as paying homage to Anderson’s equally recognizable color palettes and movie locations.

Buildings were drawn directly from screenshots from Anderson’s films. Filler text used to create the bulk of the buildings is taken from Screenprism’s analysis video “You Know It’s Wes Anderson If...”
The majority of this project was done within InDesign in order to exercise skill with the program and to fully realize its potential for text and composition. Gridlines were universally applied across all spreads to maintain consistency in layout.
